We’re really proud to now be part of a wider community of businesses trying to do things better. And we’re only just getting started.
After around 18 months of work, reflection, policy creation, questioning ourselves, changing systems, improving processes, and probably more spreadsheets than any creative studio should ever have to look at…
Persona Studio is officially B Corp Certified.
And honestly, we’re incredibly proud of it.
Not because it’s a badge to stick on the website (although admittedly it does look quite nice here), but because the process forced us to really examine the kind of business we want to be, and whether the way we operate genuinely lives up to the values we talk about so often.
For us, becoming a B Corp was never about trying to appear perfect. It was about accountability. About making sure the way we work internally reflects the same empathy-led thinking that underpins the work we create for clients.
Over the last year and a half, we’ve introduced new systems, policies, and ways of working designed to create a more positive impact across three key areas:
- our people
- our local community
- our environmental responsibility
That includes everything from improving transparency around pay equality and progression, to formalising inclusive hiring policies, reducing environmental impact, measuring client satisfaction more rigorously, and ensuring we actively support community and charitable initiatives that align with who we are as a studio. Shout-out here to our much-loved charitable partners, who we continue to support, Venture Arts, NICAS, and Early Break.
A huge amount of the credit for this goes to our Studio Manager, Liz, who completely immersed herself in the B Corp process and became the driving force behind it internally. She kept the momentum going through the less glamorous parts of the journey, challenged us constantly to do things properly, and genuinely became the compass for the whole project.
Designer Luke also played a huge role in supporting the process and helping bring structure and clarity to the mountain of work involved, while I helped steer the wider vision and direction of how B Corp principles integrate into the studio long-term.
The process itself was challenging in the best possible way. It forced us to move beyond good intentions and turn values into documented actions, measurable commitments and long-term accountability. And importantly, we see this as a starting point, not a finish line.
One thing the process makes very clear is that B Corp is not about reaching perfection and stopping. It’s about continual improvement. Constantly questioning how your business can operate more responsibly, more fairly and with greater positive impact over time.
That mindset feels very aligned with how we already approach design; iterate, learn, improve, listen, evolve.
As a studio, we’ve always believed empathy matters. That businesses should care about people. That creativity should have meaning beyond aesthetics. That culture, community and responsible growth matter.
Becoming B Corp certified has given us a framework to strengthen that belief and hold ourselves accountable to it moving forwards.
We’re really proud to now be part of a wider community of businesses trying to do things better. And we’re only just getting started.
